I competed in my first HYROX race on December 11, 2025. What an experience!
Before training, I had never run this much in my entire existence. And to do it solo?!? Welp, that’s where grit and a little bit of delulu came in. 😆
This year was tough, but it taught me that through it all, I can do hard things. 💪🏾
In this post, I’m sharing the 5 lessons I learned.
But first…
HYROX Explained:
HYROX is a global fitness race that combines 8 km of running with 8 functional workout stations, alternating between a 1km run (~0.62 miles) and a strength exercise, repeated eight times for a total distance of 8km running and 8 workout zones. The race is designed for all fitness levels, and you can do it solo, partner up, or do a relay. Here’s the order of the race:

Why HYROX?
I was a student athlete growing up. In high school, I ran track and played volleyball. As an adult, I hadn’t competed in anything that required physical fitness. I learned about HYROX late last year and decided I would train for it.

#1: Do Hard Things
Because it grows your brain (literally!). Running in between each station was the hardest part for me because I am not a distance runner. I had originally wanted to do the relay (because, less running), but when everything sold out BUT the solo tickets, I had to pull myself together (pun intended) and get it done.

#2: Push Past Limiting Beliefs
This race was just as mental as it was physical. When we can conquer the mind, we’re unstoppable.

#3: Build Community
I trained with strong, motivating women at The Weight Rm in Torrance, CA. We fed off each other’s energy and went in with a common goal. The coaches were passionate, knowledgeable, and supportive throughout the journey. I was reminded how important community is and that you do not have to go through life alone.

#4: Take the Leap
In life, in business, in all the things. The answer will always be ‘no’ if you never put forth the effort and just try.

#5: Self-Love is Non-Negotiable
Love yourself enough to do what you say you’re going to do. Dare to dream and take actionable steps to make it reality. Move with a sense of urgency as if your life depends on it (because it does). Seek ways to spark joy and enjoy the journey.

Would you try HYROX?
